Fork Union Academy was founded in 1898 by Dr. William Hatcher, a Baptist minister, as a co-educational school to serve the local community. Shortly thereafter, the school became Fork Union Military Academy, educating young men in a military styled environment.

From its onset, Christian values were the foundation of this school, whilst other things were added along the way such as the military style environment, sports, and college preparation. Jesus Christ has always been at the center of who we are as a school and our Biblical worldview.

This week we prepare to celebrate Easter, which is the most important Christian day of the year and whilst we have different denominations represented at this school, there is one aspect that all Christians embrace:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, so that whosoever believes, shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 3:16

He has risen! He has risen, indeed!

May we serve one another with Christ's sacrifice in mind. I wish all cadets, their families, our faculty and staff, and friends of FUMA a blessed and Happy Easter. We respect our cadets of all faiths.

We pray for everyone and know that God's plan for us is not for disaster, but for good. God Bless this Academy in its service to Him.

Go FUMA! Happy Easter.

Colonel David L. Coggins, USMC (Ret.)
President
