Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.

The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:

Cadet Private Alibek Saurambayev is a senior and second-year cadet in Alpha Company. He is a boarding student from Almaty City, Kazakhstan. Cadet Saurambayev has maintained excellence in military bearing and keeping his room in order. His disciplined approach to barrack’s life and desire for additional responsibilities earned him a promotion to Corporal. He will now serve as an Assistant Squad Leader. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Saurambayev!

Cadet Private Destyn Romain is a seventh grader and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Hagerstown, MD. Cadet Romain recently volunteered to join a group of cadets and staff that assisted in handing out food and Halloween treats to over one thousand children at a community event. His hard work and discipline were recognized and noted by several adults. Cadet Romain’s actions exemplified the kind of servant leadership that is a foundation of Fork Union Military Academy. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Romain!

Cadet Second Lieutenant Joaquin Yescas is a tenth grader and third-year cadet in HSC. He is a boarding student from Miami, FL. After earning a promotion to 2^nd Lieutenant, Cadet Yescas developed a creative solution for improving morale in his platoon by hosting a trial cycle for squad leadership positions. He gave each cadet an opportunity to learn and grow in a position of leadership by encouraging friendly competition for rank advancement. His dedication to investing in those under his command is a testament to his character. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Yescas!

Reds Football Team was 2-0 this season against Charlottesville High School and Woodberry Forest School. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and managers. Well done. Bravo Zulu, Reds Football Team!

Ms. Tara Harkins, HR Manager, who has volunteered to coach both soccer and swim teams. This is in addition to her daily role as our HR Manager in which she has brought a new level of professionalism to the department. Bravo Zulu, Ms. Harkins!
