“It’s an honor to give to Fork Union Military Academy.”

George, “Speedy”,’66 and Patricia Skinner have endowed a scholarship fund to provide financial aid to families who want their sons to get their high school education at Fork Union Military Academy but are unable to afford it without scholarship support. The Skinners plan to increase it significantly through a planned gift made through their estate plan.

Speedy and Pat have been close to the Academy for decades coming to Alumni Reunion Weekend events, regional Alumni gatherings, Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and, most dear to their hearts, sponsoring and playing very competitively in FUMA golf tournaments.

The Skinners are very active in their church, greyhound rescue foundation work and lending their time and talent to multiple golfing organizations that promote the growth of golf.

George was a career physical therapist while Pat was a Registered Nurse who, in her long career, worked for the Hampton Health Department and a nurse with the Veterans Administration in the Norfolk.

The first George and Patricia Skinner Scholarship award will become available to cadets in the Fall of 2022.
