On Tuesday, November 11, Fork Union Military Academy held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony, bringing together cadets, faculty, alumni, and community members to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans. Gathered at the Academy’s Veterans Memorial, attendees reflected with gratitude on the courage, commitment, and selflessness of those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

This year, the Academy was honored to welcome Pastor Anthony Clore of Fork Union Baptist Church as the guest speaker. A lifelong resident of Fluvanna County, Pastor Clore has dedicated much of his life to serving both his community and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Beginning his law enforcement career in 1999, he served in numerous roles within Fluvanna County, including Corrections Officer, 911 Dispatcher, and Deputy Sheriff, before continuing his public service as a Virginia State Trooper.
In 2018, while still serving as a State Trooper, Pastor Clore answered a different calling: the call to pastoral ministry. He became the pastor of Fork Union Baptist Church, where he continues to serve with dedication and faith. Earlier this year, after 25 years of distinguished service in law enforcement, he retired to focus fully on his ministry.
Drawing from this breadth of experience, as a law enforcement professional, a community servant, and a faith leader, Pastor Clore delivered a meaningful message encouraging cadets to recognize the enduring values upheld by our nation's servicemembers: duty, integrity, sacrifice, and service above self.
Fork Union Military Academy is proud to continue its longstanding tradition of honoring veterans and teaching cadets the importance of remembering those who have defended our country. As the ceremony concluded, the FUMA community left with a renewed commitment to preserving the virtues and freedoms that our veterans have courageously protected.

Rescue the weak and the needy.” — Psalm 82:3–4
