CAPT Mark E. Black, USN (Ret.), has announced his retirement as the 12th President of Fork Union Military Academy effective July 31, 2026. CAPT Black and his wife Kim look forward to retirement and being able to spend more time with their family.
“The Academy is deeply grateful for CAPT Black’s service to FUMA,” said Paige Lester Pruett, Chairman of the Fork Union Military Academy Board of Trustees. “The Academy is blessed to have had his dedicated leadership, and we all are excited for him as he embarks on this next chapter of his life with Kim.”

“America needs the Academy more than ever,” CAPT Black noted, “and I look forward to watching it continue to produce exceptional young men with deep seated faith.”
