Macek’s extensive experience at Fork Union Military Academy is unmatched. His experience reaches back to 1994 when Robert L. “Red” Pulliam was serving as the school’s President and spans the broadest possible range of roles at the school. He has served continuously from Pulliam’s time through the administrations of the next four Academy Presidents, being entrusted with ever increasing roles and responsibilities. Macek has worked as a classroom teacher at both the middle school and upper school levels, including serving as the Chair of the Science Department. He has coached soccer, swimming, baseball, basketball and track. He was the Commandant of Cadets in the Middle School. He has held administrative positions including Director of Admissions, Vice President for Operations, Chief of Staff and most recently as Assistant Head of School.

George Anas, Class of ‘83 and former President of the FUMA Alumni Association, added, “As an alumni and Board member, I appreciate Steve’s deep understanding of the Academy’s core values. Steve’s tenure stretches back to men like Red Pulliam who have defined generations of young men in FUMA’s first 125 years. I trust completely that Steve can carry forward FUMA values as we move forward and position FUMA for the modern world and the next 125 years.”

Macek offered, “I truly believe our mission impacts each aspect of the young man---Body, Mind and Spirit. I am humbled to be entrusted with this role and will work tirelessly to support the families, faculty and staff, and alumni. I am excited to be an integral part of FUMA’s future,”

Macek earned his Bachelor of Science in Science Education from Westfield State University where he was a member of the Alpha Chi and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Societies. He earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Virginia. Steve is married to Dr. Alina Cichocki, a physics instructor, and they have two children, Aniela and Max.
