Fork Union Military Academy hosted its annual Senior and Postgraduate Dinner on Saturday, March 22, in Estes Dining Hall, honoring the graduating class of 58 seniors and postgraduates. The evening served as a celebration of their accomplishments and a formal welcome into the lifelong brotherhood that defines the Fork Union Military Academy experience.
Set against an elegant backdrop, the cadets and their families enjoyed a formal dinner together, highlighted by heartfelt moments and inspirational words. The keynote speaker, Paul Mosley, an alumnus from the Class of 2005 and member of the Alumni Board, offered reflections on his own journey after Fork Union and shared words of encouragement to guide the graduates as they prepare to take their next steps.
The evening underscored the Academy’s deep tradition of fostering community and brotherhood that extends far beyond graduation day. Each graduating cadet received a commemorative FUMA pin to wear on their uniform for the remainder of the year, a meaningful gesture marking their transition from students to alumni. The pins, featuring the FUMA Crest and engraved with "Fork Union Military Academy" and "Alumni 2025," were proudly presented by alumni in attendance, creating a powerful moment of connection across generations.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of a generous $50,000 donation from the Academy’s Alumni Board member Mike Whitmore, Class of 1983. This remarkable gift includes $25,000 designated for the Annual Fund and an additional $25,000 specifically earmarked to support and sustain the Senior and PG Dinner for years to come. Mr. Whitmore presented the contribution to CAPT Mark Black, President of the Academy, and Vashon Hubert, Director of Alumni Relations.
This meaningful investment from the Alumni Board not only honors the graduating class but also ensures that this cherished tradition continues to inspire future generations of Fork Union men.
The Class of 2025 will be formally celebrated during the Academy’s Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10 AM on Stadium Field. Ahead of graduation, seniors will be recognized at the Senior Day Parade on Friday, May 16, at 2 PM, also held on Stadium Field.
