Fork Union Military Academy proudly congratulates MAJ David Mitchell on being named Teacher of the Term for Term 1 of the 2025–2026 academic year.

At the end of each grading term, cadets have the opportunity to nominate teachers who have made a significant impact in their academic and personal growth. These nominations are then reviewed by the Teacher of the Term/Year Committee, composed of non-academic staff members, who carefully evaluate each submission before selecting the recipient of this distinguished honor.

MAJ Mitchell joined Fork Union in August 2017 as a teacher and coach. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he serves as a swimming coach and sponsor of the Scuba Diving Club. During Term 1, he taught Seventh Grade Humanities and Math, leaving a lasting impression on his students.

Cadets described MAJ Mitchell as funny, kind, and inspiring, often noting that his teaching style makes learning engaging and enjoyable. One cadet shared,

“He does a very great job at teaching. He is also very funny and comedic — he’s making my school year look awesome!”

Even cadets who are no longer in his class still visit him during breaks, a testament to the strong connections he builds with his students.

Congratulations to MAJ Mitchell on this well-deserved honor and for his outstanding dedication to our cadets’ growth and success!
