In a strategic move to enhance college preparedness and provide valuable exposure to prospective universities, the College Placement Department at Fork Union Military Academy has recently commenced a series of college visits. Last week marked the first trip of the spring season with a group visit to the University of Virginia. These visits, designed to offer firsthand experiences of college campuses, are open to juniors and seniors, enabling them to make informed decisions about their higher education pursuits.

The trip, organized by Mrs. Kelsey Hill and Dr. James Benson, not only provided cadets with an opportunity to explore the academic and extracurricular offerings of the University of Virginia but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and excitement among the group. Amidst the educational aspects of the trip, cadets were also treated to a stop at Chick-fil-A for lunch, adding a touch of enjoyment to the day's itinerary.

The Class of 2024 at Fork Union Military Academy boasts promising prospects for college placements. Among the seniors, one has already secured acceptance to the University, showcasing the success of the academy's college preparation initiatives. Additionally, three seniors find themselves on the waitlist, a testament to their competitive qualifications and the academy's commitment to guiding students through the college application process.

Furthermore, a senior is a standout contender for the prestigious Jefferson Scholarship, an award intended to cover the entire cost of attendance for four years at the University of Virginia, plus coverage of supplemental enrichment experiences. The recognition of one senior as a finalist for such a renowned scholarship underscores the Academy's dedication to academic excellence and holistic development.

As the college placement journey continues for the senior class of 2024, Fork Union Military Academy remains steadfast in its mission to equip cadets with the tools and opportunities necessary for success in higher education and beyond. The college visits initiative, coupled with personalized guidance and support, exemplifies the Academy's unwavering commitment to preparing students for their future endeavors.
