The career shadow day organized by Fork Union Military Academy at Luck Companies in Richmond, Virginia, provides a valuable hands-on experience for senior and junior cadets. Luck Companies, being the largest family-owned producer of crushed stone, sand, and gravel in the nation, offers a diverse range of career opportunities spanning various departments and roles, from operational positions like loader and drone operators to managerial roles in accounting, finance, and technology, as well as specialized roles in engineering, data science, environmental products, welding, and auto mechanics, among others.

During the shadow day, cadets toured different facilities within Luck Companies, including the Training Center, Boscobel Plant, Rebuild Shop, and Central Lab. They gained insights into how subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Mathematics are integral to different positions and departments within the company. Additionally, the cadets received valuable guidance on interview skills during an HR presentation, enhancing their readiness for future job interviews.

The signup process allowed cadets to express their areas of interest, ensuring that representatives from different departments were available to meet their needs during the visit. Hearing firsthand accounts from professionals about their career pathways and educational backgrounds provided cadets with valuable insights into post-high school options.

This initiative is particularly beneficial as it exposes young individuals to a wide array of career possibilities, helping them make more informed decisions about their post-high school plans. By witnessing various career opportunities in action, cadets can better envision their future pathways and explore areas of interest that they might not have considered before. Overall, the career shadow day at Luck Companies serves as a valuable educational experience, equipping cadets with the knowledge and inspiration needed to embark on their career journeys with confidence.

This is the second career day the College Placement & Academic Services Department organized with Luck Companies.
