Fork Union Military Academy proudly continues its tradition of recognizing cadets who exemplify leadership, character, and excellence. GySgt Charlie Coulter, Commandant of Cadets, recently announced the Cadet Leader of the Term and Cadet of the Term honorees for Term 3, recognizing students who consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, responsibility, and personal development.
The Cadet Leader of the Term award was presented to Cadet Isaac Weathersbee of Bravo Company. Weathersbee is a junior day student from Palmyra, Virginia, and the son of Gregory and Jamie Weathersbee. He is currently in his second year at the Academy.
The Cadet of the Term award was presented to Cadet Jeremiah Hamilton of Bravo Company. Hamilton is a freshman from Abilene, Texas, and the son of Cody and Ashley Hamilton. He is in his first year at the Academy.
Bravo Company was also named the Winning Company for Term 3 for the second consecutive term, recognizing the company’s collective discipline, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
Selection for these honors is both comprehensive and highly competitive. Each company nominates one cadet in two categories: Category I, for cadets ranked Private through Corporal, and Category II, for cadet leaders ranked Sergeant through Captain. Finalists then appear before a formal selection board comprised of Command Sergeant Major Glenn Sidwell and four senior cadets serving on the Battalion Staff.
Appearing in full Class A uniforms, candidates are evaluated on their knowledge of Fork Union Military Academy’s history, values, regulations, and Honor Code, as well as their leadership traits and military bearing. Cadets are scored across seven evaluation areas, including personal appearance, communication skills, knowledge of current events, military awareness, and room and wall-locker displays, with a composite score reflecting overall discipline and performance.
For their outstanding achievements, Cadet Weathersbee and Cadet Hamilton each received a $25 gift card and will advance to compete in the Academy’s Cadet and Cadet Leader of the Year board later this academic year.
Both cadets, along with Bravo Company, will also be awarded an additional leave opportunity from February 20–22.
Congratulations to Cadet Weathersbee, Cadet Hamilton, and Bravo Company on these well-deserved honors.
