Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.

The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:

Cadet Jose Luis Romero Jimenez, Jr. is an eighth grader and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Guadalajara, Mexico. During the Baptisms this week, Cadet Romero Jimenez volunteered to assist by handing each of the participants a towel after their baptism. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Romero Jimenez!

Cadet Hunter McDonnell is a junior and third-year cadet on the Battalion Staff. He is a day student originally from New Ulm, TX. Cadet John Cottey is a junior and second-year cadet in Alpha Company. He is a boarding student from Austin, TX. Cadet Trenton Maxwell is a senior and fourth-year cadet on the Battalion Staff.  He is a boarding student from Princeton, WV.  These cadets volunteered to power wash the Veterans Memorial cannon in preparation of the Memorial Day Ceremony. Their dedication to beautifying our campus is commendable. Bravo Zulu, Cadets McDonnell, Cottey, and Maxwell!

Mrs. Jeanne Jones, Executive Assistant to the President, volunteered to assist with driving cadets to youth group this year. While Chaplain Jamison was out recovery from major surgery, she learned to drive the FUMA bus to ensure as many cadets as possible could come each week. Every day her office is filled with cadets as she gives them support and advice. These actions, along with many others, speak to her character. She is loving, caring, and selfless. Words can’t express the gratitude and appreciation we have for her. Bravo Zulu, Mrs. Jones!

A special congratulations to the young men who made a profession of faith in baptism this week! Seventeen young men stepped out in faith and were baptized earlier this week. We are proud of you all – Bravo Zulu!

A special thank you to COL William Hitchcock, COL Chris Nothnagle, and LTC Tony Moss (Ret) for their faithful service to the Academy. They will retire this year and we wish them the best on life’s journey. Bravo Zulu, gentlemen!

Go FUMA!
