The first day of class has arrived and no doubt those who brought their cadets to campus in the past few weeks are wondering how things are going. I attended chapel with the corps on Sunday, and I was impressed with the seriousness and respect the cadets are already displaying. They understood where they were as Chaplain Jamison led our first corps wide chapel service.

The start of the school year moves rapidly, and I am amazed how quickly the cadets have adapted to the new normal. A visitor here may think they stepped back in time. No young person here is looking anxiously at their cell phone for the latest update. Rather they are immersed in an environment where self-discovery and new beginnings are the norm. Our cadets are communicating face-to-face, and they are building the foundation for friendships within their new brotherhood.

Our faculty, coaches, and Student Development Officers are actively monitoring and guiding your sons on the path forward every day. This week our cadets in grades 8 through postgraduate will enter a classroom where they will spend the next seven weeks focused entirely on one subject. They will be in an environment where fragmentation is removed, and they will build intellectual stamina and a renewed sense of ownership of their academic journey. Our students in grade 7 will experience a program that is still focused but intended to prepare a middle school student for the rigor for the One Subject Plan they will experience next year.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. May God Bless your families, our corps of cadets, and Fork Union Military Academy in the year ahead.
