On April 19th, Colonel David L. Coggins, USMC (Ret.) the 11th President of the Fork Union Military Academy held the 5th Academic Term Convocation in the Wicker Chapel on campus.

Colonel David L. Coggins, USMC (Ret.) is the 11th President of Fork Union Military Academy

Colonel Coggins welcomed everyone and encouraged them to start the final academic term well and to finish strong. Using scripture, multi-media presentations, and sharing some of his life’s lessons on leadership, he related that God’s plans are for good—not disaster. He communicated that, like a loving father looking out for his son, in the same way FUMA, as a Christian college preparatory academy has the best interests of their Cadets at heart.

He finished by praying and asking God to protect the Cadets. He closed with, “I’m proud of you.” If you know the Colonel…he meant it, the Cadet’s understood, and appreciated it. One cadet told him, “It feels good to have someone tell me they are proud of me.” Fork Union Military Academy seeks to develop, educate, and inspire young men in a Christian, college preparatory, military styled and board school environment so that they’ll have respect, integrity, faith, character, and discipline in body, mind, and spirit.

The purpose of the convocation was to appreciate, encourage and inspire. Mission accomplished. Go FUMA!
