Position Listing - Postgraduate Lacrosse Coach

Postgraduate Lacrosse at Fork Union Military Academy

PG lacrosse at FUMA is an extra gap year of strong academics, elite character development, and executive leadership skills, combined with a highly competitive lacrosse experience to prepare the student athlete for the academic rigors of university and playing college lacrosse.

The advantage of PG Lacrosse is that it does not use any of your college eligibility, unlike junior college or the NCAA, where once enrolled or if they transfer, have already started using part of their college eligibility, which could waste time and money.

Fork Union post graduate lacrosse players can easily enroll in college after a PG year and still be considered a true freshman with all the eligibility remaining.

Benefits of a PG Year

Players that can benefit from PG Lacrosse are ones that have graduated high school in four years, but might still need to improve their academic and test scores to become an NCAA qualifier.

Another player that could benefit from the PG program is someone that perhaps got hurt during their senior year or junior year, or players that came out of an under-recruited area and didn’t get much recruiting exposure.

Another example could be someone that wants to improve his maturity, character, or leadership traits, or just simply get bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled to make more of an impact as a freshman at the next level.

What is Our Program Like?

Our program lasts approximately 8 months, and our cadets normally report to campus mid to late August and typically finish in early May. We will play a fall and spring schedule and play a combination of prep schools, Junior College, MCLA, NAIA, and NCAA schools with travel and hospitality as part of the experience, as this will enhance the recruiting capabilities for college coaches to see the players perform against quaWhality competition.

Our players live in a military-style, structured, boarding school environment that is rooted in Christian values and faith. Our players learn discipline, respect for others, teamwork, leadership, and resiliency with a high level of integrity, loyalty, and accountability for each cadet.

We talk often about academic development, physical growth, and spiritualality so that cadets develop in body, mind, and spirit. We place each individual athlete in a specific academic and strength program for their unique situation to optimize the opportunity to be successful in all areas.
