Fork Union Military Academy is proud to announce that four members of the Class of 2027 have earned prestigious academic honors through the College Board's National Recognition Program, recognizing their outstanding academic achievement and performance on College Board assessments.

Seniors David Ilegar, Gabriel Keener, George Owino, and Kadin Stremlau were selected for recognition through the national program, which celebrates high-achieving students and helps them stand out in the college admissions and scholarship application process.

This year's recognition marks another impressive academic milestone for Fork Union. All four eligible cadets from the Class of 2027 completed the application process, and all four received awards. Additionally, the Academy has celebrated three or more National Recognition Award recipients in each of the past three years.

2026 College Board National Recognition Award Recipients:

  • David Ilegar, a senior from Lagos, Nigeria, and the son of Sunday and Stacy Ilegar, received both the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award and the School Recognition Award.
  • Gabriel Keener, a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, and the son of Erik and Ashley Keener, received the School Recognition Award.
  • George Owino, a senior from Falls Church, Virginia, and the son of Judy Owino, received the School Recognition Award.
  • Kadin Stremlau, a senior from Livingston, Texas, and the son of Kelly Stremlau, received the School Recognition Award.

The College Board's National Recognition Program honors students for their academic performance, including their grade point averages and achievement on assessments such as the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and Advanced Placement (AP) Exams.

In 2026, more than 300,000 students nationwide received recognition through the program, which offers three award designations: First-Generation Recognition, Rural and Small-Town Recognition, and School Recognition.

These honors provide students with an opportunity to distinguish themselves as they pursue higher education, connecting their academic accomplishments with potential college and scholarship opportunities.

The continued recognition of Fork Union cadets reflects the Academy's commitment to academic excellence and preparing young men for success beyond graduation.

Fork Union Military Academy congratulates David, Gabriel, George, and Kadin on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates their dedication to academic achievement.
