Fork Union Military Academy continues to strengthen the futures of its cadets by creating articulation agreements with colleges and universities around the nation. This past week, the Academy added to that list when Colonel David Coggins signed a Guaranteed Admission Memorandum of Understanding with the Virginia Military Institute. Coggins invited Commandant of Cadets Colonel Adrian Bogart III along with several admission representatives to campus to celebrate the agreement. Joining Colonel Bogart's team was VMI senior Xavier Frederick, who graduated from Fork Union in 2019.
The agreement states that any Fork Union cadet, who meets VMI’s undergraduate admission requirements, will be guaranteed admission.
"Agreements, such as these, help alleviate some stress that our seniors feel during the application time," said Dr. James Benson, Assistant Director of College Placement and Academic Services. "Our cadets work so hard each academic year, and it certainly helps them to know their hard work solidifies a "win under their belt", so to speak."
VMI joins an impressive list of agreements Fork Union has including Norwich University and The Citadel.
"We currently have two out-of-state agreements that provide amazing pathways for our cadets in two very different locations," said Kelsey Hill, Director of College Placement and Academic Services. "It is an added bonus to be able to offer a Virginia school for our cadets, which for many of our cadets is an in-state option."
Last Friday, Colonel Bogart, his associates and Frederick spoke to the Corps of Cadets during a special Chapel presentation on the admission process at the Virginia Military Institute and later enjoyed a special lunch with select cadets.
