In October of 2023, Fork Union Military Academy will celebrate its 125th birthday, having opened its doors to students on October 15, 1898. Under the leadership of Dr. William E. Hatcher, the Baptist minister who founded the school and served as its first President, the Academy established the foundation of an education institution that would become one of the nation's leading college preparatory, Christian, military-style boarding school for boys.
