Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union) hosted William "Bill" Horrigan for the fourth installment of their Christian Leadership Series (CLS) on Wednesday morning.

The CLS program, established by academy trustee David Barrett, invites successful Christian speakers to inspire cadets. These speakers showcase the intersection of faith, vocation, and leadership. Additionally, their visits help spread awareness about Fork Union and its mission.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1932, Bill's formative years were shaped by a strong Christian upbringing in a Roman Catholic family. Active in church and passionate about sports, he balanced faith with athletics.

Bill's academic journey included an undergraduate degree from Miami University (Ohio) where he played football under legendary coach Ara Parseghian, later a powerhouse at Notre Dame. During this time, Bill met his wife Beverly, with whom he shared a loving marriage for decades until her passing in late 2023. They raised three children and have four grandchildren, welcoming their first great-grandchild, Bennett William, last year.

Bill dedicated 24 years to the U.S. Navy, traveling the world alongside Beverly. Following his retirement, he transitioned to materials management at the Medical College of Virginia before embarking on a successful healthcare sales and distribution career. He fully retired at 72, nearly 20 years ago.

Bill's dedication to service extends beyond his professional career. He has volunteered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for nearly 18 years and currently serves as Chaplain for the Manchester High School Football Team in Virginia.
