You haven't enrolled in college yet, which means your NCAA clock hasn't started. Your time at Fork Union keeps it that way.
At Fork Union, you'll train in your sport and compete against top-tier, college-level competition. You can grow stronger, faster, and more highly-skilled at your position. You will refine what you already do well and close the gaps that might be holding you back, all before a single year of college eligibility is spent.Â
You can also close any academic gaps that might still be in your way. Targeted coursework sharpens your academic abilities, raises your SAT and ACT test scores, and helps you master the core subjects that are critical for college success.
College is often the first time a student-athlete lives on his own, and that's a real adjustment, on top of everything else college will throw at you. Time spent at Fork Union means you arrive on your college campus with independent living skills already under your belt: managing your own schedule, your own discipline, your own choices, in a structured environment built to hold you accountable for them.
Recruiters already know where to look for great players, and Fork Union is one of those places. Decades of sending players on to college rosters have made it a trusted stop for coaches filling out their scholarship classes, so you're not training in a corner of rural Virginia where nobody's watching. You're on one of the biggest stages in the country, and the recruiters who matter will show up to see you in person, not just review your film.
If you're coming from outside the Unites States, you'll have a real bridge instead of a cold start. You'll adjust to American competition, American classrooms, and American culture here at Fork Union first, so none of that is brand new to you when you get to a college campus.
It's not enough just to get and stay NCAA eligible. At Fork Union, you will learn the study habits and self-discipline that will actually help you succeed throughout four years of college classes and beyond.
You won't have to juggle five classes at once. You'll take just one course at a time, every seven weeks, with one teacher's full attention on that single class. This level of focus will help build the concentration and stamina your college coursework will demand, and by the time you leave Fork Union, you'll actually know the material instead of having coasted through the class or just cramming it for the final exam.
Your plan gets built around what you actually need. Maybe that's retaking a core course to strengthen your NCAA Eligibility Center GPA. Maybe it's an advanced course that transfers as college credit. Maybe it's dedicated prep for the SAT or ACT. Whatever the target, your coursework gets scheduled to meet it, and you will arrive at college ready to achieve.
Every school night, you'll be at your own desk, studying. Call to Quarters, or "CQ" as we call it, isn't optional and it's not negotiable—and that's the point. CQ helps you build the kind of study routine that you will need to be successful in college. And you will develop your ability to follow that routine on your own once nobody's enforcing it for you.
