Carl Ashby, FUMA Class of 2021, a former FUMA Judo Team Co-Captain & member of the FUMA Judo Team for 3 years, continues to practice martial arts in his home town of Raleigh focusing on Brazilian Jujitsu, which is similar in many aspects to judo. Carl competed in his first martial arts tournament since leaving FUMA this summer in Raleigh at the prestigious Newbreed Championship. Ashby entered two different divisions: 1) with martial arts uniform, called “gi” and 2) with only a rash guard and shorts called “no-gi” bringing home a silver and bronze medal respectively.
