Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.

The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:

Cadet Sergeant Seth Groelz is a junior and second-year cadet in Bravo Company. He is a boarding student from Sacramento, California. Understanding the commitment to honoring all our students and with recent changes of state flags, he updated our flag book. He researched the state and international flags of our students to ensure they are current and correct. His attention to detail and hard work will ensure that FUMA properly honors the State and Country of origin for all our students. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Groelz!

Cadet Sergeant Isaiah McDaniel is a freshman and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Norfolk, VA. From the first day he arrived, staff and other cadets recognized that Cadet McDaniel’s demeanor and attitude were outstanding. He was recently promoted to Platoon SGT and immediately stepped into the role with a positive and humble attitude. His genuine care for his cadets and devotion to duty are noteworthy. Bravo Zulu, Cadet McDaniel!

Cadet Cameron Gray is an eighth grader and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Windsor, CT. Cadet Gray volunteered to assist in our Perkins Technology Center this week, cleaning up after each open lab session. His positive attitude and initiative are an example to his fellow cadets.  Bravo Zulu, Cadet Gray!

Cadet Private First Class Theophilus Aberra is a freshman and second-year cadet in HSC. He is a boarding student from Charlottesville, VA.

Cadet Sergeant Shane Balzano is a freshman and first-year cadet in HSC. He is a boarding student from Centreville, VA.

Cadet Corporal Rhys Lawrence is a junior and first-year cadet in HSC. He is a boarding student from Hawthorne, NJ.

After returning to campus from Youth Group, these three cadets heard that an opposing team had left the locker room in need of attention during the swim meet. They volunteered to clean the locker room so that FUMA swimmers and Coach Larson were able to continue to focus on the meet. Their selfless service is not only a testament to their character but was a public display of the caliber of cadets we have at FUMA. Bravo Zulu, gentlemen!

LTC Vashon Hubert, Alumni Relations, is new to the Development team and has immediately set to work to secure significant gifts for our 125 for the 125th campaign. His outstanding efforts are an asset to the Academy. Bravo Zulu, LTC Hubert!

Mr. Tim Redden, Advancement, coordinated with a grant organization to acquire a substantial sizeable donation. He also secured a substantial gift for our 125 for the 125th campaign. We appreciate his hard work and commitment to the Academy. Bravo Zulu, Mr. Redden!

SGM Mike Ocker, TAC Officer, retired this week after four-plus years of valued serviced to the Academy. He was a remarkable mentor to our cadets and an esteemed colleague. We appreciate his dedication to our mission. Bravo Zulu, SGM Ocker!

Go FUMA!
