Greetings from Fork Union Military Academy!
We are excited to welcome your son to Fork Union Military Academy’s Summer Academy soon. To help him get the most out of his experience, we wanted to share a few ways he can begin preparing at home for the structure, independence, and responsibility expected of him while he is here.
Summer Academy classes are broken into two sessions:
Registration for Session 1 will take place on Sunday, June 28 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Registration for Session 2 will take place on Monday, July 13 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Saturday, July 11 and Saturday, July 25 are exam days.
For any new class that lasts the full four weeks, July 11 will be the midterm exam, and the 25 will be the final exam. These exams are required.
Teachers will be reaching out to all parents and guardians within the first few days to introduce themselves and keep you informed of your son's progress.

Each day begins at 6:30 AM and ends around 9:30 PM. During that time, your son will be expected to manage his schedule, stay organized, and take responsibility for daily tasks.
Keeping his room tidy.
He’ll need to make his bed each morning and keep his personal space clean. Learning how to organize his belongings and take pride in a neat space will go a long way.
He should also get comfortable helping with basic cleaning tasks like:
Managing Personal Hygiene.
Your son should already be in the habit of:
Choosing Meals and Cleaning Up.
At Fork Union Military Academy, students serve themselves in the dining facility and are responsible for cleaning their area after eating.
Each day, meal ingredients are listed on our digital menu screens. If your son has any allergies or dietary restrictions, he should refer to these screens to check the ingredients. If he’s ever unsure or needs help understanding what he can or cannot eat, he must ask a staff member for clarification.
Getting Used to Wearing Uniform-Styler Clothing.
We expect uniformity in appearance, and your son should begin practicing the types of clothing required. He should be comfortable wearing:
All clothing is expected to fit properly. There will be no sagging or oversized garments allowed.
Students who do not take care of their responsibilities will lose free time, which is a limited and valuable part of their day. The more prepared he is before arriving, the more confident and comfortable he will feel during his Summer Academy experience.
We also encourage families to help their sons practice the following before arriving on campus:
Your son will have 1 to 1.5 hours of athletics each day, and much of this activity will take place outside in the summer heat.
We recommend helping him get used to being active in warmer weather before he arrives. Even spending an hour outside each day can help with the adjustment.
Before arriving on campus, we strongly encourage you and your son to read through the Parent & Student Handbook together. This will help him understand:
Being familiar with the handbook will help your son feel more confident and better prepared for the Summer Academy experience.
Once you have submitted your Summer Academy Enrollment Agreement and paid your Summer Academy deposit through FinalSite, an email to join Clarity will be sent to the email address(s) listed in FinalSite.
It is important that you to create your Clarity account. Clarity is the platform used to pay all required invoices for Fork Union Military Academy.
If you have any questions about Clarity and the invoice/payment process, please reach out to Ms. Tracy Pride at pridet@fuma.org.

Families of rising 9th–12th grade cadets will receive Academic Course Request information for the 2026–2027 school year via email no later than June 5.
Please note that all course requests are tentative at this time, as the Academy’s master schedule will not be finalized until the end of July. Families will receive finalized schedules, including term placement for each course, at the beginning of August.
Please note that summer storage will be limited this year. Priority storage consideration will be given to returning cadets who require flights to and from campus.
Parents who plan to pick up their cadet from campus at the end of the year should plan to take all belongings home with them.
As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask families and cadets to ensure that all packages are scheduled to arrive on or before Wednesday, May 20, and are picked up by Thursday, May 21.
If you anticipate that an order will not arrive by this date, please consider having it shipped directly to your home address instead of campus. Any packages remaining unclaimed after departure will be forwarded to the cadet’s home of record at the family’s expense.
This is also a good time to update shipping addresses on Amazon and other online accounts to ensure future deliveries are sent home rather than to Fork Union Military Academy.
Fork Union Military Academy is pleased to share updated information regarding the Plitt Student Loan Program for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This program offers eligible families an affordable option to help manage tuition costs through extended repayment terms made possible by the generosity of The Clarence Manger and Audrey Cordero Plitt Trust.
