PHILADELPHIA, PA – Fork Union Military Academy alumnus Patrick McDowell and the Philadelphia Eagles are heading to the Super Bowl LVII to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 12, after defeating the San Francisco 49ers Sunday to be named the NFC Champions. 

McDowell is in his seventh year with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 1996 Fork Union graduate was hired as a strength and conditioning intern in 2016 and will be completing his first year as a Player Development Assistant/Scout in the football operations department. 

Prior to arriving on the Eagles staff, McDowell was the coordinator of sports performance at Wake Forest from 2015-16. 

In 2011-15, McDowell spend four years at the Academy, where he was a strength and conditioning coach, defensive line coach, and co-defensive coordinator for John Shuman. He also worked as an English teacher and was the TAC officer of Delta Company. 

McDowell began his coaching career as a student assistant at Virginia Military Institute. He then coached at his alma mater, First Colonial High School, from 2004-06, before joining the staff at Ocean Lakes High School from 2006-11. 

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., McDowell attended Fork Union Military Academy from 1995-96 and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a degree in English in 2001.
