We’re excited to welcome your son and your family into our proud tradition of excellence, discipline, and brotherhood. Check-In Day is an important milestone in your cadet’s journey, and we’re here to help make it as smooth and positive as possible. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know to prepare, including what to bring, what to wear, arrival times, and key reminders for a successful start.

At Fork Union Military Academy, we have two check-in dates for the 2025-2026 academic year. Specific groups will check-in and remain on campus for the academic year on two dates in August. The dates are listed below:

2025-2026 Check-in Dates:
  • Check-In Day #1 - Monday, August 11, 2025
    • Cadets who are on the Postgraduate Football Team, who are in 7th-12th grade that will play Varsity and JV Football, and Invited Cadet Leaders will check-in on August 11, 2025.
  • Check-In Day #2 - Monday, August 18, 2025
    • All New and Returning Cadets, including Postgraduate Lacrosse and Postgraduate Basketball will check-in on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The FinalSite Parent Portal:

The FinalSite Parent Portal is a very important tool here at Fork Union Military Academy. This portal allows you to track your status on the progression of your cadet's enrollment. This is the same portal you used to apply to the Academy. Please make sure your FinalSite Parent Portal Checklist is complete prior to your cadet's arrival on Check-In Day.

Please ensure that the following items on your FinalSite Parent Portal Checklist are compete prior to your cadet's arrival on campus:

    • 2025-2026 Fall Enrollment Contract is Signed and Submitted
    • 2025-2026 Fall Enrollment FACTS Tuition Management Account is Setup
    • 2025-2026 Fall Enrollment Tuition Deposit/Registration Fee has been submitted
      • For families on payment plans: please ensure that there are no past due balances before arriving on campus. All payments must be up to date.

Also ensure that you have:

    • Submitted your son's Final Official Transcript and School Profile
    • Signed and Submitted the Parent Statement of Support
    • Signed and Submitted the Weekend Leave Permission Form
    • Signed and Submitted the Fork Union Honor Code
    • Completed Health Profile on SchoolDoc
    • Completed the Check-In Uniform Size Form
    • Completed the Athletic Sign-Up Form
    • Completed the Sway Concussion Testing
Regulation Haircut

Fork Union Military Academy would like to request for your son to arrive on campus clean shaven and with a proper haircut. The regulation haircut for Fork Union Military Academy is:

Hair will be neat and closely trimmed. Hair will be kept 1 inch or less on top. The sides will be tapered/faded all the way around the head. No block lines and no temple tapers are allowed. Hard parts are not authorized.

If your son is unable to receive a haircut prior to check-in, we will arrange for him to see our barber on campus. 

What to Bring

Please refer to this list for the basic essentials all cadets should bring with them on check-in day. Keep in mind, your cadet may need to bring athletic equipment/supplies, please read the Fall Athletic Offerings section below as well.

If you are a returning cadet, the Packing List for the "Returning Cadets--Quartermaster-Issued Uniform Items" includes all items received from the Quartermaster the year before. 

* Calling Cards *

Your cadet will have a telephone in his room that he can use to stay connected with friends and family. He will need to purchase a calling card to dial out. We recommend purchasing this card or something similar.  

We also encourage parents to leave their cadets with plenty of snacks (granola bars, Gatorade, water bottles, etc.).
