We’re excited to welcome your son and your family into our proud tradition of excellence, discipline, and brotherhood. Check-In Day is an important milestone in your cadet’s journey, and we’re here to help make it as smooth and positive as possible. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know to prepare, including what to bring, what to wear, arrival times, and key reminders for a successful start.
At Fork Union Military Academy, we have two check-in dates for the 2026-2027 academic year. Specific groups will check-in and remain on campus for the academic year on three dates in August.
The dates are listed below:
2026-2027 Check-in Dates:
- Friday, August 7 - Families must select the 9:00 AM check-in time.
- This check-in date is for Cadet Leadership only.
- All cadets who have been invited to Cadet Leadership Training have been automatically registered for the 9:00 AM registration time on their Enrollment Checklist.
- Location: Infirmary - Please use the Pettit-Foster Entrance and follow parking signs.
- Monday, August 10 - Families must select a check-in time between 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- This check-in date is for All Preseason Football and Varsity Soccer Cadets.
- Location: Estes Dining Hall - Please use the Pettit-Foster Entrance and follow the diagram below.
- Friday, August 14 - Families must select a check-in time between 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- This check-in date is for New & Returning Cadets, including PG Basketball & PG Lacrosse.
- Location: Estes Dining Hall - Please use the Pettit-Foster Entrance and follow the diagram below.
Parking for All Check-In Dates
Please follow the diagram below on where to go for all check-in dates. Please enter the campus and park in the grass lot between Jacobson Hall and James Madison HWY (Rt. 15). Parking attendants and coaches will be there to greet you.
Families will be directed to Estes Dining Hall for their first stop, then to the Quartermaster, Jacobson Hall, and will end with a Parent Orientation at 11:30 AM. Parents can depart campus following the orientation at the Wicker Chapel.
Check-In Itinerary
Please follow the check-in diagram above if you cadet is scheduled to check in on Monday, August 10, or Friday, August 14.
Families should enter campus as directed and park in the designated parking area located by Jacobson Hall. Once parked, you will be greeted and directed to begin the check-in process.
First Stop: Estes Dining Hall
Families will begin check-in at Estes Dining Hall, where you will meet with several departments to complete important arrival steps, including:

- Infirmary Staff to confirm all health requirements have been completed
- Business Office to confirm your account is set up and finalized
- Academic Team to receive your cadet's schedule
- Commandant's Department to receive your cadet's company and room assignment
Second Stop: Thomas Gymnasium
After completing the first stop, families will be directed to Thomas Gymnasium, where cadets will receive select room and uniform items.
Third Stop: Jacobson Hall
Following Thomas Gymnasium, families will be directed to Jacobson Hall, where cadets may unload their belongings and begin setting up their rooms.
Final Stop: Wicker Chapel
At 11:30 AM, all parents will be directed to Wicker Chapel for an important Parent Orientation.
Following Parent Orientation, parents should plan to depart campus.
