Jackson was a straight A student that seemed to enjoy learning until he started high school. Since his freshman year, we saw a steady decline in his grades as well as his attitude. He lacked motivation, became disrespectful, and kept to himself. The pandemic only added to these dispositions and his father and I knew he needed a change. We toured several schools before choosing Fork Union. We liked the opportunities and the One Subject Plan. He was invited to try out for the Retan Rifles early on, which we think really boosted his self esteem. He went from playing no sports to playing two in one season and we even saw pictures of him on Instagram participating in a ping pong tournament. Jackson went from a sub-2.0 GPA to straight A's.
