Fork Union Military Academy has announced that Stephen Macek will serve as Acting President in connection with the retirement of CAPT Mark E. Black, the Academy’s 12th President.
COL Macek has served Fork Union since 1994 and brings decades of experience across leadership, academics, athletics, admissions, operations, and cadet life. Most recently, he served as Assistant Head of School.
With a deep understanding of Fork Union’s mission and values, COL Macek will help lead the Academy through this transition while continuing to support our cadets, families, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Summer Academy students stepped into the role of journalists! 📝
Mrs. Scott’s English 1 class practiced interviewing witnesses, identifying reliable sources, listening carefully, and writing their own news stories. The week also included poetry, public speaking, and a special chapel reading by cadet Ian Myatt.
It was a wonderful example of hands-on learning, creativity, and confidence-building in action.

Our Summer Academy College Prep students recently visited Hampden-Sydney College to learn how to make the most of a college tour as they begin their own college search process.
Along the way, they also demonstrated the Fork Union spirit of service by stepping in to help members of Hampden-Sydney’s ELITE program transport boxes to their vehicles.

A special full-circle moment!
We were honored to welcome back Rick Edwards ’93, Richmond’s Police Chief, to campus as his son completed Fork Union’s historic Basketball School.
Chief Edwards once played for the late legendary Coach Fletcher Arritt, who created Basketball School and left an immeasurable legacy on generations of Fork Union cadets and athletes.
To see an alumnus return to campus as a parent, carrying those memories and connections forward, is what makes the Fork Union brotherhood so special.
