Each Friday during the 2023-2024 Academic Year, Fork Union Military Academy will send a Friday Update to all parents. Please make sure you read the entire email has this includes important information throughout the school year. These will also be posted on the Parent's Page of forkunion.com under Announcements.
On Monday, September 4, our returning cadets will arrive on campus for the final check-in of the academic year. We are excited to officially start the academic session for 2023-2024 on Tuesday, September 5.
Day Student Information
If you are a new day student who has been participating in New Cadet Training this past week, you are not required to be on campus Monday, September 4. If you are a returning day student that still needs to check-in on Monday, September 4, please arrive in your PT's (grey shirt, blue shorts) to complete your check-in on Monday. You can depart campus once you have completed your check-in and picked up your Fork Union laptop.
The Uniform of the Day for the entire week starting Tuesday, September 5 will be your DCU's. Please make sure you bring your PT's and athletic shoes for athletic practice Tuesday through Friday.
Orah Parent Portal & PowerSchool Information
Parents must use the Orah Parent Portal for all transportation and leave requests throughout the year. An email with login information will be sent to each parent via the Orah Parent Portal on the week of Sept. 5. Please look out for the email next week.
Parents will also be able to access PowerSchool on the week of Sept. 5. The PowerSchool email with login information will come from COL Scott Krogh, Deputy Chief of Staff, next week.
If for some reason you do not see an email from COL Scott Krogh and/or the Orah Parent Portal by the end of next week, please check your junk, spam and clutter folders.
Cadet Communication
Cadets will not have access to phones or email throughout the first few weeks of school. This process allows the cadets to absorb the necessary information without any distractions to prepare them for a successful school year. Please contact the Commandant's Department if you need immediate communication with your cadet. You can email: CPT Christopher Morgan at .

How to Send Mail & Packages to Your Son
The best way to stay connected with your son for the next several weeks, believe it or not, is by mail! Please allow the Academy time to set up your son's email and room phones. In the meantime, you can use the addresses below for sending mail and packages to your cadet:

Below is a list of the main Commandant's Department Staff. The Commandant and Assistant to the Commandant will be on campus throughout most of the business day. The Company TAC Officers will be on campus throughout the majority of mid-afternoon to evenings.
Creating Your CampMinder Account
CampMinder is a new software the Academy is using this year to make it convenient for both parent and cadet to purchase items from the Social Center. This includes daily snack bar concessions, cadet activities and game day concessions and apparel.

Fall SAT Test Prep Opportunity
Fork Union Military Academy offers a Fall SAT Test Prep Class for seniors and postgraduates. The cost is $300 for 10 sessions (10 weeks) and will be charged to the FACTS account. The class will run from September to November.
Seniors and postgraduate basketball will meet on Thursdays starting September 14 from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM.
Postgraduate football will meet on Tuesdays starting September 19 from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM.
This will be a first-come, first-serve basis until the class fills up. Once the course begins, there are no refunds.

Live Streaming for Home Athletic Events & Campus Events
Fork Union Military Academy works hard to live stream most events that happen on campus for our parents to view. We stream all home athletic events on the Fork Union Military Academy YouTube Channel. We are also able to stream events that are in the Wicker Chapel and Parades.

Weekly Newsletters
Starting next Friday, September 8, Director of Communications Kelly Barnette will create a weekly newsletter that will be attached to this email. The Academy has two newsletters, the Front & Center, and the Blue Devil Report. The Front & Center is the Academy's newsletter that gives you bi-weekly updates from around campus. The Blue Devil Report is the Academy's newsletter that gives you bi-weekly updates from the Athletic Department.
On Friday, September 8, we will start with the Front & Center. The Blue Devil Report will start on Friday, September 15. The two newsletters will alternate each week.

- All eligible cadets will be able to leave campus for the weekend. Cadets are eligible to depart campus after athletic practice at 4:30 PM on Friday and must return by 7 PM on Sunday. Parents must submit a request through Orah.

- Parents Weekend is designed to allow cadets to depart campus with their families for a three-day weekend. On Friday, the Academy hosts several events for parents to meet their cadet's teachers and see a Parent's Day Parade.
