Weekly Update for February 28, 2025


DAY STUDENT INFORMATION:

All Day Students are expected to attend tomorrow’s Saturday Class Day. They must be signed in by 08:15, and the class day will conclude at 12:30. Attendance at athletic practices on Saturday is not mandatory; however, outdoor track will hold practice from 14:00 to 16:00 for those who wish to participate.

Additionally, if your Day Student will be absent due to illness, please email absent@fuma.org to notify the school.

IMPORTANT RE-ENROLLMENT & FINANCIAL AID REMINDER!

Planning to re-enroll your cadet for next year? Financial aid applications must be submitted first! If you haven’t already applied for financial aid, please do so immediately to ensure a smooth re-enrollment process.

Re-enrollment contracts are now available in your Finalsite profile. If you have any questions about the re-enrollment process, please reach out to the Admissions Office at admissions@fuma.org. Below are important dates for re-enrollment:

  • Early Re-Enrollment Deadline: February 28, 2025 - families re-enrolling before this date will receive a $1,000 tuition credit.
  • Final Re-Enrollment Deadline: April 25, 2025 - late fees may apply if there is no proper communication with the Business Office or Admissions Office if re-enrolled after this date.

FORK UNION TO HOST DRILL COMPETITION SATURDAY, MARCH 1

Fork Union Military Academy is proud to host the Virginia Military School Drill Competition tomorrow, March 1, at the Estes Athletic Center. The competition begins at 9:00 AM and is expected to run until 4:00 PM. Spectators are welcome! However, seating will be limited, so we encourage guests to bring a folding chair for comfort. Additionally, food trucks will be on-site, offering concessions for purchase throughout the event. We look forward to an exciting day of competition!

JOIN US FOR A SPECIAL PARENT SEMINAR ON MARCH 7 PRIOR TO SPRING BREAK DEPARTURE

Parents planning to arrive early to pick up their cadet for Spring Break are invited to a special seminar hosted by Academic Dean COL Brian Bodine on Friday, March 7 at 10:30 AM. This session will provide valuable insights into the benefits of continuing your cadet’s journey at Fork Union next year.

Following the seminar, we invite you to stay for a meet-and-greet with President CAPT Mark Black at 11:30 AM in the Social Center.

We encourage all parents to attend this informative and engaging event!

DOES YOUR JUNIOR OR SENIOR WANT TO GO TO THE MILITARY BALL?

The 2025 Military Ball will take place on Saturday, April 26, at 1800 hours in the Library. This long-standing tradition is open to all junior and senior cadets for an evening of celebration and camaraderie. Tickets are $25 per individual or $40 per couple. For cadets without a date, we are coordinating with Virginia all-girls schools to invite guests.

SUMMER STEM OPPORTUNITIES FOR 7th, 8th, AND 9th GRADE CADETS

West Point is hosting its annual Summer STEM Workshops for students in 6th through 9th grade, offering an immersive, hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering, and math! This is an incredible opportunity for cadets to explore the West Point Academy grounds, experience cadet life, and engage in exciting STEM activities.

Workshop topics include: Human Physiology, Fuel Cell Cars, Propellants, Robotics, Cantilevers, Soldering Circuits, Fish Biodiversity, Water Chemistry, Meteorology, Egg Drop Engineering, and Data Analytics and more!

Workshop Dates:

  • June 2–6 – For 6th & 7th graders
  • June 9–13 – For 8th & 9th graders

SAVE THE DATE: ACADEMY DAY 2025 WITH SENATOR MARK WARNER

Senator Mark Warner invites high school and middle school students, their parents and guardians, and school counselors to Academy Day 2025 for a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admission processes.

Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
Time: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Location: University of Mary Washington, Dodd Auditorium in George Washington Hall
Address: 1301 College Ave., Fredericksburg, VA 22401

Parents are welcome to take their cadet to this event. Cadets attending with their parents will need to submit a Leave Request in Orah.

If there is enough interest, Fork Union Military Academy may provide a shuttle for cadets who wish to attend.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in attending a U.S. service academy to gain valuable insight into the application process and requirements.

  • Spring Break Major Leave | Friday, March 7-Sunday, March 16, 2025
    • All cadets must depart campus for Spring Break, starting on Friday, March 7. Please start submitting your cadet's Spring Break Leave Request in Orah.
  • March Birthday Celebration | Thursday, March 20 | 10:30 AM
    • Cadets who have a birthday in March will be celebrated by having cupcakes with CAPT Black on Thursday, March 20 at 10:30 AM in Flag Hall.
  • Senior/PG Dinner | Saturday, March 22, 2025 | 6:30 PM
