Western Civilization

Western Civilization is a survey history course that follows the story of man in Western Civilization from ancient Greece and Rome through the Renaissance and the middle Ages to the period around WWI. Primary themes developed include the rise of modern European states, the development of political institutions, the Enlightenment, the industrial revolution, the age of imperialism and world wars, and the rise of the modern world. Emphasis is placed upon the importance of worldview factors and principles as determiners of man's progress.
