This course provides a broad overview of the academic discipline of Sociology and how it applies to the everyday lives of our students. Major theoretical perspectives and concepts are presented including, sociological imagination, culture deviance, inequality, social change, and social structure. Throughout the course, students will lean the influence of social class and social institutions such as the family, education, the media, government, healthcare, economy, and environment. The objective is to help our students better understand today’s society in order to prepare them for tomorrow’s world.
