All-Sports Camp

Come visit Fork Union and our beautiful campus for a week of fun. Located in the heart of central Virginia, Fork Union Military Academy offers small college level athletic facilities, outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking, and a chance for a young person to get out and play! Our All Sports Camp is for boys and girls (girls will be day campers only) between the ages of 7 and 17 of all levels of skill and ability. Those who are interested in learning a variety of team and individual sports will enjoy the one-week camp.

Our structured camp does not have a military presence but it takes Fork Union's core values of Respect, Integrity, Faith, Character and Discipline, and integrates these pillars in a safe, Christian and athletic environment with the goal of inspiring and educating a young person. The camp covers most summer sports, and small-group instruction ensures individual attention for each camper. Our staff will consist of our Fork Union coaches and leaders along with an alumni network that includes two Heisman trophy winners, three Olympians, NCAA and Super Bowl Champions -- you never know who will stop by!

Come to Fork Union Military Academy this summer and get out and play!

Check In/Pick Up

Check in from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The week concludes Friday morning at 11:30 a.m.

What to Bring to Camp

• 1 book bag: an old backpack-style book bag works well.
• 1 pair of athletic shoes with molded cleats. Detachable cleats are not permitted.
• 1 pair non-marking basketball shoes: see note on athletic shoes below.
• 1 pair sandals. Teva-typesandals work best for swimming.
• 1 pair shower shoes or flip-flops.
• 1 pair pajamas, boxers and a t-shirt to wear to bed.
• 1 sweatshirt or warm jacket.
• 2 or 3 swim suits.
• 10 pairs athletic socks.
• 1 pair pocketed shorts: please wear these shorts on opening day.
• 10 pairs undershorts: athletic compression shorts help prevent chafing.
• 1 blanket & sheets and pillowcases.
• 1 pillow.
• Bathroom necessities: bring soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, comb, sunscreen, Chapstick, etc.
• Stationery: stamps, postcards, and pens.
• Towels: pool towels and bath towels.

Athletic Shoes

Campers must bring a pair of well-fitted athletic shoes with molded cleats. It is extremely important that all shoes be broken in before camp. Please do not make the mistake of purchasing shoes right before camp as blisters are painful and may cause your camper to have several bad days.

Send two pairs of good, broken-in, non-marking basketball shoes. A dry pair should be available to avoid blisters. Be certain they are marked with your camper's name! Should your camper have an old pair that can be worn in the rain if necessary, please send them.

Personal Equipment

Many campers like to bring their own baseball gloves, golf clubs, tennis rackets, and lacrosse sticks. We provide all needed equipment, but many campers have favorite pieces of equipment. They are welcome to bring them along, if they are marked with the camper's name.

Clothing & Laundry

Small articles of clothing such as undershorts, socks, and pajamas will be laundered for boys each week. Campers need very little personal clothing since they wear their camp uniforms for all the day's activities, including meals. They change their uniforms two or three times a day. You don't need to pack any shirts or shorts.

It is absolutely essential that each piece of clothing and equipment be permanently marked with the camper's name. Athletic shoes must also be marked with magic marker. Shoes and baseball caps are the items most frequently lost or misplaced.

Snacks & Gum

Snacks, in moderation, are permitted at a counselor's discretion. Please do not send gum as it ends up all over our sidewalks!

Prohibited Items

We urge you to avoid sending items of great value. The campers and counselors are out of the dorms most of the day and evening.

Cell Phones

If your son travels to camp with a cell phone, please have him return it to you before you depart campus or turn it in to his counselor on opening day. Possession of mobile devices is not permitted during camp as this detracts from a key aspect of camp - building meaningful relationships with the other boys and girls.

Do Not Bring:

• spray deodorant and shaving cream
• expensive cameras: disposable cameras work great, though!
• flashlights
• laundry bags
• knives
• footlockers
• anything with wheels: do not bring roller blades, skateboards, scooters, etc.
• water balloons
• water guns
• gum
• cell phones
