PG Writing

Postgraduate Writing is designed to meet the needs of postgraduates who will soon be facing the writing demands of college courses. This course addresses many of the problematic areas associated with college writing requirements.
While this is not a creative writing course, creativity is an asset to virtually all composition and thus, will be encouraged and rewarded. The main focus will be, rather on, expository writing. Students will learn how to select and limit a topic, develop a workable thesis, generate and organize supportive evidence, and draft, edit, revise and proofread essays that vary in length and complexity. Students will draft all essays using the word processing technology available to them at the time of the course. Additionally, students will learn to employ digital resources—including the internet and other online reference tools such as computerized encyclopedias, databases, etc.—in conducting research.
