MAJ Dean Hall

Fork Union Military Academy congratulates MAJ Dean Hall today in announcing that he has been named as the Teacher of the Term 4 of the 2020-2021 academic year. Cadets submit nominations for the Teacher of the Term at the conclusion of each grading term. The cadet nominations are reviewed and evaluated by the Teach of the Term/Year Committee, which is made up by non-academic staff members, and the committee then announces the recipient of the Teacher of the Term honor.

MAJ Hall has been on the faculty of the Academy since the 2016-2017 school year, teaching English, History, Sociology, Study Skills and Government. The Louisa County native taught Intro to Sociology fourth term. Hall is a graduate from Longwood University with a degree in Physical Education, Teaching and Coaching, and later received a B.S. in Sociology from Averett University. Hall also has a master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Outside of the classroom, MAJ Hall can be found coaching Fork Union Military Academy’s wrestling program. Throughout his time here at FUMA, the wrestling program has made incredible strides. Recently, the Blue Devils placed second in the Virginia Prep League and third in the VISAA with a school record of six National Qualifiers in 2019-20. MAJ Hall has been named Coach of the Year four times at the Academy, including two from the VISAA and most recently the 2019-20 All Central Virginia’s Coach of the Year.

MAJ Hall received nominations that stated “Coach Hall creates a loving and caring environment for each one of his students. He always makes sure they are on the right track whether inside or outside of the classroom. Coach Hall presents strong communication skills and has an attitude that will motivate a student to work to the best of his ability.” Another nomination read, “He is a great teacher because he is very helpful.”

Congratulations, MAJ Hall!
