Fork Union Announces Ben Jamison as the Academy's Chaplain

Monday, June 14, 2021

Colonel David L. Coggins, President of Fork Union Military Academy, is pleased to announce the hiring of Ben Jamison as the Academy’s Chaplain.

The position became available after Dr. James Benson received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Liberty University in May and will be moving to a position as a teacher and college placement counselor in the fall.

Jamison comes to the Academy after serving nine years as the Senior Pastor of Effort Baptist Christ here in Fluvanna County. The Richmond, Virginia, native has served over 20 years in ministry as a student minister, church planter and pastor.

Jamison is a 2003 graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. After accepting Christ as a cadet, he developed his first sense of calling by serving as a cadet chaplain. Recognizing the powerful ways that the gospel can impact people in an academy environment, Jamison continued to serve in collegiate ministry while in seminary. He received his Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007.

Jamison is passionate about helping develop a generation of Christian leaders who are equipped and empowered to reshape our culture through their life and work.

Jamison is married to Stephanie Jamison and they have two children, Andrew and Madelyn.
