Honors Physics

This course is designed to prepare high school students for the successful completion of college science or engineering courses. The course provides an in-depth survey of such topics as motion, forces, energy, wave mechanics, and electricity and magnetism, all the while linking to aspects of the scientific method, the history of science, and the hand-in-glove relationship between mathematics and physics. Special attention is given to the meaning, development, and use of formulas regarding them as short hand methods of expressing relationships between and among various physical phenomena. In this manner, it is hoped that students will learn how to set up and solve problems, not by rote memorization, but by analytical and systematic approaches.
