Honors English I

Honors English I is an intensive study of literature, grammar, and vocabulary. With an emphasis on various literary genres, the course is designed to give advanced students the requisite knowledge and skills essential to working with advanced levels of English. Daily writing exercises (such as reports, critical reviews, and guided response) focus on the development of critical thinking skills, the review of fundamental grammatical concepts, and the acquisition of new vocabulary. Longer writing assignments focus on expository writing with emphasis on the writing process, coherence, and style. Daily readings provide examples of the writing strategies and styles being studied in addition to providing additional practice in critical reading/thinking.
