Pre-Calculus combines two courses from Piedmont Virginia Community college. Students can earn 6 college credits through this course. First semester correlates with MTH 163, a course in college algebra. MTH 164 is a course in trigonometry and supplemental topics. Topics covered include equations, inequalities, functions, polynomials, graphing techniques, exponential and logarithmic functions, systems of equations, trigonometric functions, analytic geometry and sequences and series. At Fork Union Military Academy, the course is designed to discuss those topics in algebra and trigonometry necessary for the student to successfully engage AP Calculus. While much of the course reviews concepts from previous classes, the level of rigor and detail of the problems aims to prepare the student for Calculus.
