Cadets Honored by Fork Union Military Academy's Alumni Association

Each year during Fork Union Military Academy's annual Alumni Weekend, the Alumni Association recognizes cadets for special awards, honoring their exceptional performance within the Academy's Corps of Cadets.

Cadet Quavon Blackwood was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Blackwood, a postgraduate, is the son of Charmaine and Dean Blackwood of Laurel, Maryland. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2017 when he enrolled as a postgraduate.

 

Cadet Grant DeMorro was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet DeMorro, a seventh grader, is the son of John and Tina DeMorro of Palmyra, Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2017 when he enrolled as a seventh grader.

 

Cadet Nicholas DiGuilio was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet DiGuilio, a sophomore, is the son of Ms. Susan DiGuilio of Rhoadesville, Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2016 when he enrolled as a freshman.

 

Cadet Logan French was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet French, a freshman, is the son of Laverne French of Silver Spring, Maryland. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2014 when he enrolled as a sixth grader.

 

Cadet Jared Giszack received the Col. E. H. "Gus" Lacy Spirit and Character Award from George Anas, President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, President of Fork Union Military Academy, during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade. This award is given to a current junior in memory of a long-time favorite teacher, coach, and friend to cadets, who served the Academy for more than forty years. Cadet Giszack, a junior, is the son of Todd and Katherine Giszack of Fork Union, Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since September 2012 when he enrolled as a sixth grader.

 

Cadet Robel Lulseged was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Lulseged, an eighth grader, is the son of Yetnayet Esatu of Alexandria, Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2016 when he enrolled as a seventh grader.

 

Cadet David Middleton was honored this week during the Academy's parade by the Corps of Cadets and was awarded the special green-and-white cord to wear on his uniform, signifying his selection as the Greenbrier Cadet for 2018-2019. Cadet Middleton, a junior, is the son of Mrs. Beth Wade of Parkersburg, West Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2013 when he enrolled as a seventh grader.

 

Cadet Kien Nguyen was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Nguyen, a junior, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thuan Nguyen of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2017 when he enrolled as a junior.

 

Cadet Alex Thomas, Jr was honored as a Distinguished Cadet during this past weekend's Alumni Day Parade in a presentation by George Anas, the President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award from the Alumni Association is one of the highest honors to be received by a cadet and recognizes his outstanding contributions as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Thomas, Jr, a senior, is the son of Althea Glover of Birmingham, Alabama. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since January 2014 when he enrolled as an eighth grader.

 

Cadet Robert Wood was honored by the Alumni Association during this past weekend's Alumni Parade. He was awarded the CPT Charles Goodall Snead Award by George Anas, President of the Alumni Association, and RADM J. Scott Burhoe, the President of Fork Union Military Academy. This award is one of the highest honors that can be earned by a cadet and is named in honor of Charles Goodall Snead, one of the Academy's founders who served as vice-president of the school's original Board of Trustees from 1898 until his death in 1925. Cadet Wood, a junior, is the son of Ernest and Genevieve Wood of Goochland, Virginia. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2014 when he enrolled as an eighth grader.
