Basketball School

Fork Union Basketball School (FUBS) was established in 1985 under the direction of Coach Fletcher Arritt. Coach Arritt will again be present at this year's basketball school, but the camp will continue to be under the guidance of Fork Union Postgraduate Basketball Coach Matt Donohue.

Over the past four decades, more than 200 of FUMA's players have gone on to play Division I basketball. Throughout Thomas Gymnasium, one can view an impressive display of college jerseys donated by former players. These athletes, along with other well-respected players, are the core of the teaching staff at Fork Union Basketball School.

Experience, success, love of the sport, and enthusiasm; all are reflective of the three-plus decades FUBS has continued to educate campers in the fundamentals of the game. Included with skill instruction is good sportsmanship, social skills and the importance of teamwork. Boarding on the campus of Fork Union Military Academy is available for boys from 2nd to 12th grade. Girls and boys may attend as day campers. We have a full schedule that allows for various ages and skill levels.

The camp is located on the 1,400 acre campus of Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia. FUMA is on Route 15 approximately 18 miles south of Zion Crossroads, 35 miles from Charlottesville, 50 miles from Richmond, and 100 miles from Washington, DC. Campers are housed in the brand new Academy Jacobson Hall dorm staffed by camp counselors and instructors. Meals begin Sunday evening and end with breakfast on Thursday. Day campers may have lunch and dinner.

FAQs

Is there a concession stand?

Yes. Each camper may bring money to deposit in the camp bank at registration. The camp store, which is stocked with Gatorade, water, nutritious snack, and candy, is open at all breaks throughout the day.

Is transportation provided?

No. Since there is limited public transportation to and from Fork Union, it will be your responsibility to provide transportation for each camper by private vehicle.

What should I bring?

FUBS will provide each camper with a reversible jersey and pair of shorts for use during scheduled activities (FUBS washes these daily for boarding campers). Please bring white socks (higher than shoes), basketball shoes, a few changes of clothes, linens (towels, pillows, sheets, and blanket), soap and toiletries, etc.

Can I bring electronics?

Fork Union Military Academy does not recommend bringing any personal valuables. FUMA is not responsible for any lost or misplaced items.

What is the refund policy?

Should a camper find it necessary to cancel, a full refund will be made if notification of cancellation is received by June 15. Cancellations after this deadline will result in a refund deduction of $25.00 for administrative expenses. There are no refunds after uniforms are issued on July 12.
