AP English IV

Advanced Placement English emphasizes the development of skills in critical reading of primarily imaginative and some discursive literature and in writing about literature and related ideas. In effect, because of the advanced critical thinking skills required to complete the curriculum, it is college-level work for high school students who are willing to devote the energy necessary to complete a course more rigorous and demanding than most other high school English courses. After the completion of the course, students may take the Advanced Placement English exam; and if they score high enough (usually a 3 or better) on this exam, colleges may give college credit for their high school work.
