I was not a bad kid in public schools, I just had trouble focusing on school and my grades became a reflection of that. It was tough at first because you're forced to adapt to the environment which has quickly become your home. FUMA works in so many differant aspects -- it literally is too many to list. As a cadet, our time was occupied with something every hour of the day. I played an organized sport all year round, studied every night, earned rank and had leadership positions in the barracks. I essentially found who I was as an individual and became that person. Three years later I was in NC attending college.

The mission of Fork Union Military Academy is to provide young men a college preparatory education in a residential, Christian environment. Using the best aspects of the military system, the Academy teaches its cadets responsibility, leadership, discipline, and pride by providing an atmosphere in which spiritual, mental, and physical growth can flourish.
