Fork Union Military Academy Middle School October 2007 Dear Parents, Greetings! As you are hopefully aware, Parents' Weekend will be held October 19-22. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held during that weekend on Friday and Saturday. These conferences, held in the teachers' classrooms, are a valuable means of securing information about how your son is adjusting to FUMA and the progress he is making in his classes. There is no need to arrange an appointment with teachers. Lines for conferences will form at the teachers' doors. Your son will be called to join you upon your arrival and registration in the Study Hall. We are asking parents whose schedules permit to meet with their son's teachers Friday afternoon anytime between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. These cadets may then leave with their parents but must return by 10:00 AM Saturday morning for parade preparation. The remaining parents will have the opportunity to meet with teachers Saturday morning from 8:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The Parents' Day Parade commences at 11:30 AM. Following the parade, cadets may enjoy leave with their family until 7:00 PM Monday night. PLEASE NOTE: Parents are invited to a special spaghetti dinner Friday night, October 19. This fundraiser, sponsored by the Academy's Parents' Association, will take place at the Estes Dining Hall from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at a cost of $10.00 per adult and $5.00 per child age 9 and under. Cadets will not be available for this dinner. Parents who have already joined the Parents' Association are entitled to two tickets to the dinner already included in their donation of $50.00 for membership dues. Membership in the Parents' Association also entitles parents to a 10% discount card for all purchases made at the Cadet Store.
