Cadet's first woodworking project a real beauty

Cadet Cameron Taylor built this saber display case from solid cherry.

Cadet Cameron Taylor, a 9th grader from Virginia Beach, is in his second year as a FUMA cadet and his first year working with COL Chris Nothnagle in the woodworking shop. Cadet Taylor's very first project was this gorgeous saber display case crafted from solid cherry. The Woodworking Club is one of many activities cadets can engage in on the campus of Fork Union Military Academy, and COL Nothnagle is very active in working with cadets in a variety of activities such as woodworking, chess, ping pong, and more.

Woodworking project!

Nice work. It might also be a solution. I'm willing to pay some spending money (Saber Shop anyone...LOL) for someone to make me a small wooden plague that would hold two items: an officers belt buckle (not bought yet) and two officer (crossed sabers, not bought yet) and one 100 year anniversary medallion (just bought from LTC Cobb with a FUMA donation.)

I'd like to have the belt buckle mounted (grooves in the wood so the buckle would sink flat into the wood) with the medallion below it (holes so the pins would go in) and same with the pair of crossed saber insignia above (?) the buckle. Somewhere I'd like to put a Fork Union Military Academy name.

Any woodshop takers?
