Middle School End-of-Year Activities

As this school year enters its final lap, we thought that it would be helpful to provide information regarding the upcoming parade season and end-of-the-year activities.

PARADE SEASON

As reflected on the Middle School calendar, the last Sunday of this month begins our parade season. Parades are held each Sunday thereafter, through May 16th. Cadets are to report to the barracks NO LATER THAN 1:30 PM on these Sundays in preparation for the parades, which begin at 2:15 PM. Cadets on day pass or on leave are able to resume their pass immediately following the parade but must be back on campus by 7:00 PM. The exception to this is Mother’s Day, when cadets are required to return by 9:00 PM.

Family members and guests are asked not to enter the barracks during parade preparation time.

END-OF-THE-YEAR ACTIVITIES: MAY 19th AND 20th

The schedule for the last two days of school is posted below.  Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend any or all of these activities:

1:15 PM            Dillard Guard performance on the Parade Grounds
2:00 PM            Graduation Parade, including the awarding of the Wicker Memorial Military Competition Award to the Winning Company
4:30 PM           Reception for all cadets, families, and faculty at Careby Hall, the home of Lt. Gen. and Mrs. Jackson.  Faculty, parents, and cadets will walk to Careby Hall along Rt. 15.  A shuttle bus will be available.

Thursday, May 20th:
10:30 AM        Middle School Graduation in the Wicker Chapel.  Attendance by the entire Corps of Cadets is required.  The 2009-2010 school session will officially end at the close of this ceremony.  Cadets will not be allowed to load belongings into their cars until after the ceremony, and we ask that no family members or guests enter the barracks until cadets are released from graduation.

We hope to see each of you here for the parades and for the closing exercises. Please contact us at 434-842-4260 should you have any questions about the information contained in this memo.
