FUMA Cadet Blake Sundel has letter to the editor published

Cadet Blake Sundel, a member of COL William Hitchcock's Political Science class, had his Letter to the Editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch published prominently in the April 10, 2010 edition of the paper.

COL Hitchcock has long encouraged his students to articulate their opinions and offers extra credit and recognition for students who write letters worthy of publication.

Cadet Sundel's thought-provoking letter challenges the "ambiguity" of interpretation of the U S Constitution and suggests that after more than 220 years of collected dust has fallen on the founding document, perhaps it is time to call for a Constitutional Convention as described in Article 5 of the Constitution, to clear up some of these debates in interpretation particularly in light of recent constitutional challenges to health care legislation and other controversies.

"While many might say that this proposal is ludicrous," Cadet Sundel suggests, "is it not just as ridiculous that after 223 years we are still questioning the meaning of the Second Amendment?"
