Chapel message, 4/8/10
The chapel message on Thursday focused on the valuable leadership lesson found in 2 Timothy 4:2. In this verse, Paul encourages Timothy to use correction, rebuking, and encouragement with others.
The cadets were told of the importance of balancing these three very different tools in whatever leadership position they find themselves in. I used an illustration I had come across of sweet and sour dressing, which is made with vinegar and sugar (among other ingredients). Too much sour or too much sweet throws the whole taste off balance.
Likewise, in leadership, we must balance correction and rebuking (sour) with encouragement (sweet) to achieve the needed balance when we deal with others.
