FUMA's Prep Basketball takes VPL Championship

The Fork Union Prep Basketball Team defeated Woodberry Forest on Saturday, February 20th , to win the school’s first Virginia Prep League Championship in the league’s 38 year history. A strong defensive effort in the second half secured victory for the Blue Devils with a final score of 60-44. The team was led by tournament MVP Joe Branch (Raleigh, NC) who averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds for the three game tournament.
 

Chris Bobo (Lanham, MD) and Xavier Holland (Palmyra, VA) were also named to the All-Tournament team. The road to the final game included victory over St. Christopher’s School of Richmond, VA (66-57) and a semi-final win over The Collegiate School of Richmond (74-65), who hosted the tournament. Chris Bobo and Xavier Holland were also named to the All-Virginia Prep League Team.
 

Congratulations to all members of the Prep Basketball Team for a job well done! The team will participate in the Sleepy Thompson Basketball Tournament at St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes in Alexandria, VA February 26-27 which will be followed by the Virginia Independent Schools State Tournament.
