FUMA cadets help Haiti
As part of FUMA's response to the disaster in Haiti: $1,021.52 was collected from the Upper and Middle School communities via a couple of chapel offerings and post-chapel donations. This total will be sent on Thursday to Samaritan's Purse to help with their relief efforts in Haiti. Samaritan's Purse was chosen because 100% of the money received for Haiti is used for relief efforts – none is used for administrative overhead.
The items collected include:
- 25 boxes of clothes and shoes, totaling over 850 lbs, were sent from FUMA to Mission Harvest America in Florida to be used in Haiti; - Two boxes of soccer uniforms from Catherine Garcia;
- Five boxes of athletic apparel from Micky Sullivan, athletic director, and the athletic department;
- Twelve boxes of old-style gym shorts and summer school shirts from our Quartermaster; and
- Six boxes (about 200 pair) of new and used shoes collected from cadets and staff this past Fall.
Special thanks to all who contributed to this effort, especially our Quartermaster's staff for helping with the shipment of boxes, and to the Business Office for helping with the monettary offerings.
