Daily Progress covers FUMA Sports Hall of Fame

Following the evening of June 18th, sports writer Jerry Ratcliffe did an outstanding job of covering the events surrounding FUMA's 2009 Sports Hall of Fame banquet in Fork Union, VA. In Saturday's morning edition of the Daily Progress, his account of Shammond Williams' acceptance speech captured the true mission of what Fork Union Military Academy means to these talented athletes. Having not returned to FUMA since his graduation in 1982, Testaverde gave an emotional account of what it was like to come back to FUMA after all these years. He attributed much of his success to his father for making sure that Vinny was provided what he needed academically to help him continue on as a college athlete and become one of two FUMA alums to receive the Heisman trophy.
